Join historian Art Miller as he walks us through the picturesque, 100-year history and gardens of the Lake Forest Garden Club—a place where rare friendships have bloomed over the mutual admiration for the wind, sun and rain; and where comfort and joy is still found in “seeing things grow and flourish when you have tended for them.”  Private walking tours of three local gardens will follow the lecture.

Founded in 1912, the Club immediately began working to realize its commitment to conservation, historic preservation, education and civic beautification on a local and national scale. Through their consistent voice and presence in the community Lake Forest’s unique landscape of ravines, glacial bluffs, remnant prairies and historic gardens have been preserved and maintained.

The book Planting With Purpose: A History of the Lake Forest Garden Club will be available for purchase ($45).
