Larry Spivack, President of the Illinois Labor History Society, will talk on the significance of the Haymarket Tragedy that occurred on May 4, 1886. The Haymarket bomb, the May Day march for the eight-hour day, and the trial and execution started a chain of events that have influenced every corner of the globe. Mr. Spivack will explore these events and how they still resonate today.

The Illinois Labor History Society is the deed holder and caretaker for the Haymarket Memorial Monument at Forest Home Cemetery in Forest Park, Illinois. The ILHS is the nation’s oldest popular labor history organization.
