Presented by Professor Catherine Sardo Weidner, Senior Lecturer at Lake Forest College

Did you ever wonder why 19th century suffragists adopted, and then abandoned, bloomers?  Or why white dresses then became the signature uniform of the suffrage movement?  Professor Catherine Sardo Weidner, senior lecturer at Lake Forest College, will examine how suffragists created a distinctly female political culture, with its own slogans, symbols, colors and dress, much of which endures today.
