Everett, a place settled 25 years before the incorporation of Lake Forest, was home to early pioneers and homesteaders living the “American Dream.” Annexed to the City of Lake Forest in 1926, the farms gave way to subdivisions as the area evolved into a suburban oasis. Authors Susan L. Kelsey, Arthur H. Miller, and Shirley M. Paddock tell the story of early Everett pioneers, schools, St. Patrick’s Church, dairy farms, and magnificent country estates in the book West Lake Forest. The authors signed books and gave a wonderful lecture with an overview of West Lake Forest's fascinating history.

This event kicked off a year of programs at the Historical Society celebrating West Lake Forest. If you have ideas for a tour or suggestions for stories or artifacts to include in our upcoming West Lake Forest museum exhibition, call us 847.234.5253.
