Let's Make History

Janice Hack, Executive Director

Welcome to the new Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Historical Society—your home for history. We are engaged in our first Capital Campaign in 45 years. Join me in making this dream of a proper history museum a reality! Your gift matters.

History has a new home

Why We Need Your Support

Since 1972, the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Historical Society has been home to the story of our community. While our history is more vibrant than ever, the home for our history is in serious need of a new chapter.

The Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Historical Society is building on the powerful legacy of these formative towns and reimagine it for the 21st century.

We are creating a dynamic new space that protects our past and inspires us to see the possibilities of our future.

With your support, we are building a new cornerstone for our community.

Goals pie chartGoals & Progress

The campaign goal is $4 million. The campaign is divided into three components: $2,750,000 for renovations and property purchase, $1,000,000 as an endowment, and a $250,000 program fund.

Currently we have reached more than 87% of our goal.

Watch our progress!

  • Greetings! A warm welcome and THANKS for visiting!  Our museum greeter needs a nice reception desk and chair ($2,500).
  • Canapes, anyone? Oh, to serve hot hors d’oeuvres at our next Holiday Party!  Our kitchen would love an oven ($1,000) and/or microwave ($500).
  • All you need to do is see the existing one and you’ll know why …  The museum desperately needs a new drinking fountain ($1,000).
  • Musical chairs is a fun game, but no need to play it here.  Pull up a chair ($100 each) and stay awhile.
